First Place Senior: $1000
First Place Intermediate: $500
Rules:
Preliminary Round
- A non-public, screened audition of the selected work must be performed with a collaborative artist to be provided by the soloist.
- The full work is to be prepared. The purpose of the Preliminary Round is to determine preparedness to move forward to the Final Round. Competitors must be prepared to play all movements but may be asked to play excerpts only.
Senior Level – Complete concerto or extended solo work with orchestra.
Intermediate Level – First movement / equivalent excerpt of any concerto or extended solo work with orchestra.
Memorization is not required for the preliminary round but is highly recommended. An extra score is required for the jury.
There will be two judges for the Preliminary Round.
Final Round
This is a public performance of the entire work, with cadenzas, and own assisting artist. Candidates must perform the work presented in the Preliminary Round.
MEMORIZATION IS REQUIRED. An extra score is required for the jury.
Winners will perform with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra at The Winspear Centre.
There will be three judges for the Final Round.
Eligibility
All competitors must be residents of Northern Alberta (Red Deer and North) or studying with a teacher in Northern Alberta
Intermediate: Maximum of 15 years of age as of January 1, 2027
Senior: Maximum of 24 years of age as of January 1, 2027
Repertoire
- All entrants must obtain approval of chosen repertoire by September 14.

- All applications for repertoire approval will go through the ARMTA Edmonton Branch NACC Committee.
Senior level: Any complete concerto or extended solo work with orchestra
Intermediate level: The first movement/equivalent excerpt of any concerto or extended solo work with orchestra
At no time shall there be any communication between jury members and competitors, parents, or teachers.
Failure to abide by these rules will result in immediate disqualification and forfeiture of the entry fee.

1) Must complete entry form.
2) Fees:
$60.00 Study with ARMTA Edmonton Teacher
$60.00 Member of EYO (senior or intermediate)
$80.00 All other entrants
3) You must have received repertoire approval confirmation email.
